Sponsor/Support an Event:
Company support is vital to the success of our events, JA of Maine offers plenty of opportunities for you to get involved.
Students across the country and around Maine participate in an authentic work-school experience Job Shadowing provides middle grade students with an up-close look at local jobs by giving them the opportunity to “shadow” workplace mentors as they go through a normal day of work. Students see the practical applications of classroom lessons carried out by professionals and can connect the importance of school work to their future dreams and aspirations. This event depends on the community involvement of our local businesses. Business owners are asked to host a class and provide a light lunch for their student guests. JA coordinates the job shadow experience throughout the year, but February is our primary Job Shadow month.
The Titan Challenge puts teams consisting of three high school students and one volunteer business advisor from the community against each other to run the most profitable company. High schools throughout Maine participate in this virtual game. Business advisors from a variety of industries are encouraged to participate. It is a rewarding experience for the students and the professional volunteers. The Titan® Challenge takes place during the last week in February to coincide with National Entrepreneurship week.
Each year, businesses around Maine give Junior Achievement a hand in raising funds for JA programs and activities by taking part in the annual Bowl-a-Thon. This event brings local businesses together for a few hours of fun, team building and fundraising. Teams of four raise a minimum of $200 which helps to support JA Programs in Maine schools. The Bowl-A-Thon takes place in March.
This event commemorates the accomplishments of Maine residents who have made a lasting impact in our community and in Maine’s business industry. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the continuing success of Junior Achievement in providing educational opportunities for the youth in our state and in facilitating the opportunity for business professionals to expose Maine students about the potentials in Maine. This event will take place in May. Exclusive corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Individual tickets are $150.
In 2010, Junior Achievement of Maine was awarded to be the beneficiary of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race. Each year JA will have the opportunity to award racing bibs to individuals who would like to raise money for our programs. Runners are asked to raise a minimum of $350 by receiving pledges from friends, family and colleagues.
