JA in a Day

JA in a Day-Alternative Delivery Program

The fun, interactive JA curriculum is traditionally presented once per week for six weeks. This one-day event enables volunteers from one or more companies to present all lessons during one visit. While volunteers present the interactive curriculum and join their students at a school, place of business or on a university campus, teachers enjoy the benefits of having a business professional teach their class for an extended time period.

More than 1,000 students throughout Maine participate in JA in a Day each school year. Some organizations who provided employee support for JA in a Day include; Bangor Letter Shop, Biddeford Savings Bank, Casella Waste Systems, Diversified Communications, KeyBank, Paquin & Carroll Insurance Agency, Robillard Insurance, Saco & Biddeford Savings Bank, Synernet, Inc., and TD Bank.

JA at Presque Isle Middle School was a HUGE hit! Our 8th grade students and teachers are still talking about that dynamic day. It is rare that you have a “universal thumbs up” among 8th grade students, but such was the case with JA! The topics and skills shared with our kids were relevant to them now, which made the learning authentic, engaging and fun, too. Thank you for all of the big work that went in to planning this program for us; we are grateful. We are definitely looking forward to JA next year, if that is a possibility for us. Many thanks . . .
